Each piece is thrown on a potters wheel, trimmed, sometimes altered or carved, and
allowed to dry.  It is then bisque fired to 1830 degrees.  All the pieces are then glazed and
loaded into a gas kiln for the final firing which reaches about 2300 degrees.  All of Abbey's
pottery is dishwasher, microwave and oven safe.  Although stoneware is very strong, be
sure to avoid sharp temperature changes, such as taking a piece straight from the freezer
to a hot oven.  Never put a teapot directly on the burner, this will cause it to crack.  All of
Abbeys glazes are lead free and food safe.
Enjoy!
Lone Tree Pottery
Fine Functional Stoneware By Abbey Rothenbuehler
Fort Collins, CO                                                                              About Abbey
Abbey developed an interest in the ceramic arts
as a young girl.  Early experiences and a few
classes in junior college sparked her love for
making pottery and eventually led to a full time
study of ceramics. While at school she served as
vice president of the clay guild and participated in
many exhibitions and sales.  After graduating from
the University of North Texas with her Bachelor of
Fine Arts in ceramics in 2004, the road led Abbey
and her husband to Fort Collins, CO.
Abbeys pottery is represented in galleries across
Colorado, Wyoming, and Montana.  She also sells
her work at juried art fairs.  Last year she received
a jurors award at the Castle Rock Arts Festival.
Her work has also been shown in juried exhibitions
throughout the west.  She was awarded an
honorable mention at Clay Continuum V in La
Veta, CO in 2010.
The focus of her work is to create functional, desirable pottery that will enhance the home
and kitchen.  She holds a very high standard of craftsmanship to her pottery and believes
that it should bring beauty and a sense of humanity to the home.  Growing up in the
mountains of Wyoming has instilled in her a great respect for Gods creation.  She is
inspired by the patterns, colors and nuances found in the natural world, and is always
looking for new ways to incorporate natures beauty into her work.
"We are the clay, you are the potter.  We are all the work of Your hand."  Isaiah 64:8
